The Meeting of the EFSMA Executive Committee has been held on 12th November 2022 in Riga, Latvia.

During the Meeting President Maurizio Casasco and the Executive Committee members have mainly discussed about the state of art of Sports Medicine as specialty in Europe, following the achievement of the minimum number of Countries required for the official recognition - a great success for EFSMA that have been working hard for years to reach this goal.

Another important topic of the meeting has been the scientific programme for the next European Congress of Sports Medicine, that will be held in Wroclaw, Poland, on 19-21 October 2023.
Furthermore, the President has announced the Congress of the Italian Federation of Sports Medicine that will be held in Rome on 20-22 July 2023.

Following the election of the Executive Committee in May, the new members of the Scientific and Education Commission, chaired by Prof. Yannis Pitsiladis (UK), have been appointed: Evert Verhagen (NED), Wolfgang Schobersberger (AUT), Chiara Fossati (ITA), Herbert Löllgen (GER).

It was a special chance for the members to meet again and enjoy the warm hospitality of the Latvian Sports Medicine Association, also in occasion of the Lāčplēsis Remembrance Day, a commemoration of one of the most important victories during the Latvian War of Independence in 1919. On Lāčplēsis Day, Latvians light thousands of candles across the whole country and the EFSMA Executive Committee members had the opportunity to enjoy the celebration in Riga.
