The Meeting of the EFSMA Executive Committee has been held on 22nd July 2023 in Rome, Italy.

During the Meeting President Maurizio Casasco and the Executive Committee members have mainly discussed about the state of art of Sports Medicine as specialty in Europe, following the achievement of the minimum number of Countries required for the official recognition, and the Global Alliance Project, as debated during The Sport, Medicine and Health Summit held in Hamburg in June.

Another important topic of the meeting has been the next European Congress of Sports Medicine, that will be held in Wroclaw, Poland, on 19-21 October 2023.

The meeting has been hosted in Rome on the occasion of the XXXVII Congress of the Italian Federation of Sports Medicine, titled "Biological age, Chronological age 2.0: healthy longevity". The FMSI National Congress, which was attended by a high-quality team of Speakers and has successfully reached almost 3.000 national and international participants, represents the most important scientific and cultural event organized by the FMSI thanks to the great relevance of the discussed themes and to the participation of prestigious personalities from the scientific, cultural, political and sports world.

This year Scientific Programme was aimed to highlight how Sports Medicine can be an important instrument of prevention, precision and prediction. An objective of great scientific value that also suggests a planning strategy to conjugate the protection of health with the sustainability of the socioeconomic system. It addressed themes from genetics to epigenetics, from neurosciences related to physical activity to the biology of aging, with a particular attention to the results of the most recent scientific research and to the newest technologic innovations.
